Niro, Scavone, Haller & Niro

Niro, Scavone, Haller & Niro is one of Chicago's foremost intellectual property litigation firms, and is ideally suited to handle problems in all areas of intellectual property law. As intellectual property litigation attorneys, they get a bird's eye view of what can go wrong when patents are not prosecuted properly, and licenses are not negotiated correctly from the beginning. This makes Niro Scavone's attorneys especially valuable to all their clients, including those with patent, license and trade secret matters in all stages, from prosecution and negotiation to litigation.

Founded in 1984, Niro Scavone now has 22 attorneys at all levels and with wide variety of experience. They range from junior to senior people, and come from many different technical backgrounds, including chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and computer science. In addition, some are former patent examiners; one is an inventor; and one, a Registered Professional Engineer, a designation that requires an engineering degree, several years working in the field, and passing a rather difficult proficiency exam. One attorney, Joe Hosteny, is a former Assistant US Attorney, who prosecuted many federal criminal cases, making him truly unique with reference to the controversial new federal statute, the Economic Espionage Act of 1996.

Niro Scavone has worked with clients from Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 companies, as well as with individual inventors, several of whom they represent on a contingency basis. They work equally hard for all their clients, for whom they have won excellent verdicts.
